Color of the year – eclectic dining room in Chicago

Wow! – that was my first reaction when I saw this eclectic dining room in the most recent issue of Chicago Home + Garden. This room is a good example of well balanced styling, both with regard to colors as well as to the choice of decorations. Mixing different styles and ideas can be tricky, but Sasha Adler & Lauren Buxbaum, two talented interior designers of Nate Berkus Associates, perfectly juxtaposed all elements. The green chairs, brown table and golden accents bring a lot of warmth and depth to this spacious place. I think that if the furniture was white, the room would be lifeless, reminding me of a hospital reception. Different textures like velvet, wood, stone and crystal are important additions, which also soften the coldness of white hues on the walls and floors. Abstract art with scientific motives is a fun accessory, giving the dining room a modern fun touch. Baroque style chandelier is no different, it is fun and playful, but subtle enough not to distract from the focal point of the room, namely the table and chairs. Did you also notice that yellow is a common hue to furniture and accessories and pulls together this dining space, creating a cohesive, balanced environment. What a gorgeous room!
